All parish ministries serve the needs of the parishioners of Saint Charles in their efforts to serve God and neighbors.
Faith Formation Ministries
Adult Faith Formation – **DESCRIPTION COMING SOON**
Pre-Jordan Class – This class is for parents of baptismal candidates to instruct and inform them of their obligations in raising a Christian child. The class schedule can be found here or by contacting the Rectory. Parents must contact the Rectory to arrange an interview with one of our priests.
Children’s Liturgy of the Word – Held from September through May during the 11:15 AM. Mass for children aged 3 through their 1st Communion to hear the gospel message on their level.
PREP/CCD (Parish Religious Education Program/Confraternity of Christian Doctrine) – Religious education for all parish children from grades 1 through 8 attending public school; meet on Tuesday afternoons or evenings from September through May.
R.C.I.A. (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) – Designed for people who, after hearing the mystery of Christ proclaimed, consciously and freely seek the living God and enter the way of conversion as the Holy Spirit opens their hearts. Baptized Catholics wishing to prepare for Confirmation and/or Eucharist or deepen their faith are invited to attend.
Bible Study – Meets Monday evenings at 7:00 PM in the church hall to explore Scriptures.
Men’s Spirituality Group – Meets Wednesday evenings at 7:00 PM in the church hall to prayerfully study the Sunday Scripture Readings.
Vacation Bible School – Held for 1 week at the end of June, for ages 3 to 10 (with group leaders aged 12 through adult) to have a fun time exploring God’s word through prayer, Bible Study, arts and crafts, games, singing and snacks.
Altar Servers (Youth and Adult) – Youth: Serve at Masses on Saturday nights, Sundays and holy days of obligation; Adults: Serve at Masses during the week including funerals, while school is in session.
Altar Society – Meets weekly to clean (vacuum and dust) the church.
Church Environment Committee – Seasonally decorates the church and grounds.
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion – Assist the priests at Masses with distribution of Holy Communion and take Holy Communion to home-bound parishioners.
Lectors – Proclaim and announce God’s Good News to his people, through careful, prayerful preparation and training to project the meaning and feeling of the Old and New Testament readings during the Liturgy of the Word at Mass. Confident, expressive proclaimers of all ages help the congregation to listen, reflect and respond to the word of God.
Usher Society/ Ministry of Greeters – Welcome people as they come into church, assist with seating people, coordinate offertory procession and take up the collection.
Adult Choir – Sings at the 11:15 AM Mass on the first and third Sundays of each month, meeting for practice at 10:00 AM on these Sundays. They sing at First Communion Confirmation, on Christmas, at Holy Week Liturgies, and special services throughout the year. **If interested, please contact Suzanne Judge at (610) 626-4687**
Cantors – Lead the congregation in singing at Masses on Sundays. **If interested, please contact Suzanne Judge at (610) 626-4687**
Children Choir – Parish youth who sing at the 11:15 AM Mass on the fourth Sunday of every month, and practice on the second Sunday of the month. Also sing at First Communion and Confirmation Liturgies. **If interested, please contact Suzanne Judge at (610) 626-4687**
Perpetual Adoration Chapel (St. Anne Chapel) – You are invited to pray before the Blessed Sacrament 24 hours a day, seven days a week in the St. Anne Chapel . Chapel may be entered through the church door located in the church parking lot. Contact the Rectory for the security code.
Charismatic Prayer Group – Meet weekly on Wednesday at 8:00 PM in the church hall for prayer and worship.
Rosary Group – Prays the rosary after the 8:30 AM Mass in the church Monday through Saturday.
Miraculous Medal Novena – Every Saturday immediately after the 8:30 AM Mass.
Blood Drive – Coordinates through the American Red Cross to hold annual blood drives.
Finance Council – Works collaboratively with pastor, parish staff members and pastoral council in implementing pastoral plans by making fiscally responsible recommendations.
Pastoral Council – Works collaboratively with pastor and parish staff members to foster full participation of the entire parish in the life and mission of the parish and plan for the future of the parish.
HOPE (Helping Other People Everyday) – Assist home-bound /elderly parishioners with rides, social visits, other assistance as needed.
Ladies Auxiliary – Meets monthly 2nd Tuesday of the month for social/service/informative speaker meetings for women of the parish, sponsors annual parish Christmas Bazaar and other fund-raising activities.
Legion of Mary – Promotes the faith through service and prayer, full membership is centered on a weekly meeting with acts of outreach to the community, and auxiliary membership is based on daily prayers to promote the faith; meetings are held in the church hall on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
Pro-Life – “A voice for those who have none” Sponsor a Holy Hour for Life, offer lapel roses in January, May and October as a fund-raiser for the Pro-Life coalition and participate in various activities – letter writing and praying in our area.
St. John’s Hospice – Monthly collection of food, clothing and casseroles to assist the Philadelphia based shelter in their mission to feed and clothe homeless men.
St. Vincent de Paul Conference – Provide confidential temporary assistance to persons or families in need without regard to race or creed in a non-judgmental manner, with food and funds provided by parish members and benefactors who bear witness to the love of Christ.
Borromeo Seniors – Meet every Tuesday in the church hall open from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for a social time.
